After training hard for a year Serge Nubret showed up to compete. When the Weiders saw his condition they tried to ban him from competition so Arnold would win. (A similar situation happened with Danny Padilla.)
His footage from Pumping Iron was cut and has never been seen.
Serge was heartbroken and did not eat or train for 12 weeks losing roughly 13 lbs.
A great deal of bodybuilders banded together and said if Serge was not able compete they would not compete in the accompanying Mr. Universe. Finally, the Weiders let Serge compete reluctantly.
